I just got my first dedicated Long Range Rig (thanks to my wife) and need to know what rings and bases would be good for my goals. The gun is a new Remington 700 xcr Tactical Long Range in 308. It will currently have a Nikon buckmasters 6-18x40 with fine crosshair with target dot on it but maybe later down the road have somthing like a straight 36 power on it. The gun will only be used for target shooting, as I have a hunting rig. The ranges it will be used on will vary anywhere from 100 to 1,000 yards. I'm a total newbie to LR shooting, and the farthest I've shot has been 500 yards at the Roanoke Egg Shoot, but my father in law goes to butner some and the hickory ground hog shoot and I'll probably try and go too. I think I may need 20 moa rings but am not sure. I'm on a pretty tight budget so keep that in mind. I still have to buy bullets, cases, and dies as I already reload but not for 308.

Re: Rings and Bases help

I just recently got Seekins rings and a 20 moa base.
The quality is unreal, but they might shoot your budget in the head.
