RL-15 and the M1A

Gents, found a pile of 168 gr hornady BTHP's and have a jug of RL-15 was thinking about trying. Can someone give me an op rod friendly starting point for 600+ yards? I will work up 200 and 300 yards later with different projs, but figure I can shoot the 168's across the course for the time being.

Rifle is a standard M1A "loaded" from the mid? 90's.

With the 168gr bullet 41.3 good groups to 43.5 but work up
used lc with wlr...

Sierra's recommended accuracy load for the 168SMK is 42.0gr of RL15 with Win brass. This may work for you.

oh and FYI it is a good load - I've shot it, but 700-800 yds is going to be about max on it. In most .308s it only pushes the round between 2520 and 2560fps..... so it might do what you want with the Hornady
