Folks,

Has anyone tried these yet? I picked up a bunch of the belgian steel mags, but some say that there have been feeding issues noted with the surplus mags (various forums).

The new mags are $20. I called Rock River and the technician there said that they are GTG, and the steel mags are drying up quickly.

Any real world experience?

Re: Rock River polymer 308 mags

I've had them on order forever. Got a call from them a couple months ago asking if I was "all ready?". I said "yes", I was then told "OK, they'll be out pretty soon!". You know, I'm gunna call 'em right now.

OK, I just talked to Mark at RRA. Evidently RRA received their first order of Poly mags, and shipped 'em out. No problems. Then they got their second order, and there were problems. So they are on hold for the corrected batch. On the bright side, they haven't shipped bad mags, and the zombies aren't here,.................... yet.

Re: Rock River polymer 308 mags

I got two of them in from RR a month/two ago. They fit nicely in my lar 8 26", but real tight in my lar 8 16". Would not drop free in the 16". They are pretty ugly, but do look durable. Shot about 75 rounds through them in 5 shots/reload. Not a single malfunction of any kind. Bolt held open after last round every time.

I'm still waiting for mine, but I understand the first orders were placed back in March. It may be a while if the second batch had problems.

The Rock River .308's use FN FAL mags instead of what you would call "normal" AR platform mags. If I'm correct, the magpuls are for the more popular DPMS design. And Armalite has their own mag design which won't interchange with anybody else's design. Too bad the AR10-size guns are not standardized like the AR15. I guess it's because the AR10 wasn't adopted and standardized by the military.

I have one of the old Bushmasters before they sold the design to Rock River---wonder if these plastic mags would work in mine since it does take FAL mags? For that matter would they work in an FAL without having to modify/adjust/tweak?

Re: Rock River polymer 308 mags

You guys know these are modified new production Thermold mags for FAL's? The Original Thermold FAL mag has a rib that interferes with proper insertion on the RR guns. So its a thermold. Some people love them some hate them, and these are supposed to be made better so should work fine.
