Gunsmithing Rocksett on muzzle brake

Greetings,
I will soon be picking up a Sako TRG-22 from my FFL next week. When I get it home I am going to install a Crux muzzle brake on it so I can use my suppressor. My question is should I use Rocksett on the threads? I have heard it both ways but I figure that since it will be holding my suppressor locking it in place is much more critical.

I've had mixed results with Rocksett. I've gone to using loctite 272. I've had several muzzle brakes spin off with the suppressor using rocksett. Have had zero issues since switching to the high temp loctite.

Never had any issues with rocksett. My issues with rocksett was it always worked so good, the only way I could get a brake to budge was soaking it in water overnight. That being said the high temp loctite is TITS so I'd go with it.

The only time Ive had issues with rocksett was when I didnt let it cure for the 24 hours. Went out and put a hot can on the new cold brake just a couple hours after installing and the brake threaded off with the can as of course it would. Separated the two with the spanner wrenches, redid the locksett and its been solid since.

I would use rocksett if your brake comes with it. If youre having to buy something I would probably go locktite as its more abundant and doesnt have to be ordered off the web necessarily so you could get it today.

I use a heat gun. High temp loctite breaks down at just under 500°, so it's easy to get the brake up to that temp with a heat gun. Once it's hot, it will spin off with a wrench fairly easily. If I were putting a brake for a can on an AR, where I might have a high rate of fire, I would try to use Rocksett, but on a bolt gun I've had much better luck with Loctite 272.

Same, had to soak overnight to loosen the rocksett.

Have you guys tried freezing the rocksett to remove. A friend told me that is what he does. I thought he was full of shit but sure enough last one i did I put the gun (AR upper) in my chest freezer for a few hours and it came off just like loctite does with heat. Apply a little torque and bam, like nothing was there.

Contrary to the name, Rocksett is not high strength. Main advantage is high heat resistance.

With Rocksett, I just took 2 off. Boiled it in water for about 5 mins and broke free pretty easy
