My searches failed me, so I'll throw this up and hope to get some more great intel.

So after many, many long months of waiting, I've grown tired of watching my Blaser gather dust while BATFE "processes" my Form 4, and have decided to get a muzzle brake for training purposes until I can collect my SRT can. After some light surfing, I think the best choices for a .338 Blaser are the Sako TRG brake, or the Roedale. Obviously there's a big price difference, but, buy once cry once. What do you guys think would be the better choice for recoil reduction? This would mostly be used right now so I can get back on the line, and for when I'm going somewhere that's not too suppressor friendly. Thanks all.

Re: Roedale vs Sako TRG

I run a Sako factory break on my TRG and it is effective at reducing recoil but the price is hefty. If like the look of the Roedale and everyone that uses them loves them. The price is also attractive and if mine hadn't have come with the factory I might have gone the Roedale route.

I would recoment you give Richard Near a call. I think the Near break does a great job. But how long has your form 4 been out? B/C when you get the can in you will not be shooting the break, just my .02

Re: Roedale vs Sako TRG

If you have to buy the roedale from roedale then don't bother... You think the wait time on a form 4 is bad? Now, if someone has them in stock in the U.S. then I'd consider it.

Just putting it out there.

That's why I went with the stock TRG brake... EuroOptic had it to my house in 2 days.

although I will caution you not to expect any brake to tame 300g .338 max loads. I thought I'd throw a brake on there and it would be like shooting something a little stronger than a .308. Nope. I can shoot about 7 300g loads before I'm ready to pull out another gun. I'm moving down to 250g SMKs and 235 Predator solids.

Re: Roedale vs Sako TRG

I picked up a couple of factory TRG brakes from Euro Optics about the same time I bought 2 TRGs (22 & 42)from them. Alex had them to my doorstep in (if I recall correctly) 3 days.

I cannot comment on the Roedale, as I do not have time behind one, but if you are only using one while waiting for your can to get to you, it would seem logical to get one that would work well, was in stock and could be at your door quickly...

I was quite satisfied with my dealings with Euro Optic and would not hesitate to send friends to them.

X2

My late buddy had a NEAR brake on his 42...Richard makes first class stuff...maybe the best anywhere.
The brake worked perfectly FWIW.

Re: Roedale vs Sako TRG

Guys we realise that our delivery time on brakes is to long. Thats because they are high quality and very efficient. But we are a small company and expansion takes time and it takes financing. When you finance growth through profit rather than borrowing it takes longer, But with the ethical anti gun standpoint of the banks here there is only 1 way.

If you notice in a thread about our brakes that i posted the other day, we have taken steps to increase production of brakes and other small parts 4 months earlier than planned.
So within a few weeks we should see brake production caught back up, and increased to reduce waiting time to a minimum, Our intention is 14 days turn around for export ( when the authorities process permits on time, which thes have gotten pretty good at, at least for NATO countries) and under 7 days within the EU.
I personaly assemble every brake, build every rifle, and assemble every stock. I am very busy and as part of our expansion additional staff is planned, between now and the end of the year our deliverability should improve greatly.
Thankyou for your continued support.

With regards to the sako v roedale brake question, the sako works, ours works better, thats a proven fact. Another good brake is the PGM brake, it came closest to the performance of ours of all the ones we tested.
