I’m new. I am hopefully smart enough to not blow myself up. But as a grown man I hold only myself for my actions... as stated I’m new so please be gentle the first time. The more I play the more I want to wildcat. I find myself going smaller and smaller. I started reading on efficiency and it appears wsm for example are more efficient than their full size counterpart. 17rem fireball appears to be more efficient if a tad slower than 17 rem. Wider shorter appears to be the most efficient. I’m also interested in shorter platforms that still deliver decent velocity. In the seventeens I even found someone that necked down a 357sig to 17.. 17-357RG. It died off quick but actually fit in a pistol. If, as a few articles suggest, fatter shorter cases are more efficient then why are there not more accepted examples? Why are wsm cartridges not more popular? What about cartridges like 22tcm? Or are these cases that look good on paper but for one reason or another just don’t in the real world?
