Has anyone bent down the Bolt handle on a Ruger 77/44 (with heat)? I have a US Optics SN4 that I am trying to mount to the receiver, but the bolt knob hits the bell housing. If I go up in height with rings, then there is not point of using the low based optic. I am looking into knob modifications, but would really like an aftermarket bolt handle. Any Suggestions????? I have wasted two days searching out options.

Re: Ruger 77/44 Supressed Bolt handle issue

I have seen where a tactical orbendorf type bolt knob will extend it out enough to where it clears. The Ruger does have an odd outward bent handle where the knob is offset from the centerline of the handle.

When I machine them for the tactical knobs, I make the angle 16 degrees and straight down instead of bent out with an offset like the factory knob has.

They have proven to be a bear to machine but can be done with some patience.
