I found a LNIB Ruger Frontier in 308, with a Leupold Scout scope already mounted on it. Looks great. Thinking of buying it and wondered if anyone on here had one and could offer any comments.

I had one in 300 WSM. It was a very light and fast scout setup, but simply not good in the magnum caliber. I immagine it would work quite well in .308 though.

I have one in .308. I first put a 2 moa Aimpoint 9000sc on it out front and could shoot MOA groups with it at 200 yds. I sent it off to Hill Country to have a Vortex FH added to it. I intend to put a conventional scope on it now. I have not shot it post FH.
This is my first Ruger centerfire. The action is very confidence inspiring. Feeding is flawless, ejection is near semiauto like when you work the bolt enthusiastically. Trigger on this one is actually pretty nice (LC6). Would I get another one with a 16.25" barrel??? probably not, but, I do find some emotional attachment to it.

Re: Ruger Frontier in 308-Anybody got one?

I bought the .243 and the .308. I put the Leupy scout scope on the .308 and loaded up some 180 sierra game kings to deer hunt with. The rifle shot as good as any hunting rifle I have every used. I sold both rifles and am kinda wishing I would have keep at least one. The advantage of having the scope mounted forward was nice, only 2x, but hey I felt I could have taken any deer within 250 yards or maybe a little further. I'm trying to keep it real. I know someone here as probably shot one to 1000 yards with groups under on MOA. Never got the chance to take either one of the rifles hunting. As mentioned in the post above the rifles function without a problem. I sighted the rifle in and was getting just over an MOA at 100 yrds. It's a short barrled hunting rifle. I really did't think it would shoot that good.
If you get one let me know how it does in the field. Really wish I would have keep one through deer season. Good luck with the purchase.

I had one i 308 and coulden't make it to shoot for shit , tried every trick in the book , I assume the barrel was bad , it copper fould really bad. Sold it to a guy that wanted to rebarrel it.
Bought another one that I had done work to the year beofre chambered in 300WSM , it shot ok. Just diden't see the point in it for my needs , sold that one too

The one I have copper fouls less than a SAKO 85 I had, and less than an HS Precision barrel I have. Incredibly smooth. I have been reading good things in general about Ruger barrels lately, unlike the grab bag of when they sub contracted the barrels out.
