Ruger M77 ring conversion/modification

Hello all. I have a question regarding Rugers M77 series of rifles and their mounting system. I know that the M77 will only accept rings made by Ruger for those specific firearms, but, would it be possible to modify the receiver to accept standard rings? Thanks.

I had mine drilled and tapped and put a 20 moa Farrell rail on that's built for the ruger m77

I did the same. Actually still have the rail somewhere in the safe.
