Running a rear monopod with speed and efficiency.

I got a AW with a monopod that pulls out as well as can be turned to make very fine adjustments.

I never use it to be honest, I always run a rear bag, but I'm thinking of using this monopod a bit more just to try something new and educate myself.

Are there any particular techniques for running this thing with speed. I get the feeling that it's a bit slow when trying to fine tune the position and get the shot off, and it's kind of the reason why I haven't given it a chance.

Unless someone is shooting at you. You should have plenty of time to get the mono=pod adjusted. The stability of these are incredible. I can shoot without one but it is much more work. When you have really good fundamentals, the mono-pod makes shooting a dream!

Lindy doesn't use a rear bag: He grabs the rear monopod with his non-shooting hand and uses his grip on the monopod to adjust the elevation of the stock at the butt. I won't question this method until I can can outshoot Lindy.
