Did very well with my wildcat 6mm at F Class yesterday. Bad news is I am running out of a batch of H450 obsolete powder. Meters perfectly(ball powder), but I need a burning rate eqivalent powder. Would H4831SC, or H4350 be a good choice?? I'm using WW mag primers, and 105 Moly Bergers. The chamber is a .243 with the shoulder pushed back, and an AI 40 deg shape. Much neck reaming, but a longer neck, and I can use Lapua 243 brass. PS: I loved the sight of my spotter blown off the 10 ring at the 900 yd line by my next shot.

Ha, I didn't know anyone else was still using H450. I have around 5lbs of it, and I'm still debating on what to use it in!

Re: Running out of H450-need info

H4350 is an SC (Short Cut, a Hodgdon marketing term) tubular powder. It flows relatively better than 'normal' tubular powders like H3831 (which is available as H4831SC and has literally identical ballistic properties).

Ramshot Hunter is a fine grained ball(like?) powder that flows nicely and has a ballistic performance very similar to H4350.

I am unfamiliar with H450, so I can't really relate it to these powders in any meaningful way. H4350 and Ramshot Hunter work well with 140-ish weight bullets in the .260. H4831 produced good accuracy, but seemed to generate less velocity for me in the .260.

Re: Running out of H450-need info

Loved H-450 for my 6.5/284. H-4350 is a touch fast for that, H-4831 works decently. I haven't tried the RL17 or RL22 for it yet.

Wish Hodgdon would make a short run of the H-450, I'd buy a couple of 8-lb jugs.
