i was wondering if any of you have used the muzzle brakes built by RWS.its the ones that are in the for sale category.i am building a 338 rum and i am trying to figure out what brake would suit me the best.i will be shooting mostly prone.if anyone has any other suggestions i would be happy to hear them, thanks, marty

Re: rws muzzle brakes

I recently put one on a 7mm/300 WSM for a member here and both he and I were very impressed by the effectiveness of the brake.

The product quality and finish is very high. I have a couple more that I will be getting for upcoming build work.

I have 5 now. Four (300wm,300wsm,300rum,338edge)are the 1" and I have one of the smaller diameter brakes on my 300rum. They work great! Price is right and Ross is a great guy to work with. Has plenty of toys for you to look at while he installs the brake

The RWS brake is *very* similar to the Holland QD which I have on my 300WM. I like this brake design very much. In addition to being very effective, recoil is about on par with a .243, it has 3 large ports on each side + 3 holes on the top to combat muzzle flip. This makes it more of a prone-friendly design due to NOT having holes that point down. When I rebarrel my 300, it will get an RWS, due to a larger barrel contour diameter.
