Does anyone know the total internal elevation travel of the S&B 5-25x PMII with mil rad turrets? The S&B website has only the limits on the turret (22 mils) - thanks in advance.
If I remember correctly I believe there is more elevation in the knobs also. Mine can make a full revolution and then go to about 10 mils on the second revolution. The scope was meant to be mounted on a 45 MOA base to be able to use all the available elevation.
It's going to be mounted on an AIAW with a flat base, so I wanted to know how much up elevation I could get with a 100-yard zero. Looks like about about 12 mils, which is plenty for 115DTAC launched at 2970fps.
A quick look at JBM shows 12 mils will get you to 1300 yards at sea level at 70 degrees. I bet you have a little more than that on the knob left over though. 16 mils to 1500 yards where the load gets close to subsonic so even with 12 dialed you can just hold 4 mils over on the reticle.
Our "normal" atmospheric (station) pressure here is 25.3"Hg. Assuming I have 12 mils of up elevation travel with the erector, and 5 mils more with the reticle, I can shoot to over 1600 yards here - not quite a mile! And the DTAC is still supersonic.
Then you got way more than 5 mils in the reticle. I thought you had the P3 when you said that. We had to use a hold from our 100 yard zero at the last BHTC match in PA and we were hitting at 1000 with a 7.3 mil hold over. You should have 10-15 mils veiwable at mid power range.
