I bought a used S&W M&P 40 full size awhile back but didn't really use it a whole lot so I sold it to a buddy of mine. He took the gun to a smith to have a trigger kit installed(apex I believe) and the smith told him the gun was missing factory trigger parts and couldn't do the install. He said under the rear sight, there should be a spring and a disk and that his gun had no spring and two disk under it and for him to install the trigger kit he have to buy a new trigger assembly from S&W. I never had the gun apart and don't know much on the M&P. Is this corrert? I know the gun was the model that wouldn't fire with out a clip in it I wasn't sure if this might have something to do with it Any help would be appericated

The spring you are describing is part of the firing pin block. The gunsmith is correct, there should be a spring and a one disk. As far as ordering a new trigger assembly from S&W, the missing spring is supplied with nearly all of the Apex Tactical trigger kits.
