I'm considering a Springfield Armory SA9805 Super Match M1A w/McMillan USMC Camo Fiber Glass Stock, is it really worth $3,000? Is it as accurate as my service model M14 that I was trained with at FT Campbell 1968? Should I rather build a Super Match grade AR10?

IMO, not even close.
If you want an M1A for nostalgia purposes, get a base model.
A quality AR-10 pattern rifle will run circles around that thing.
For $3K, you could have a MWS and a decent amount left over to put toward an optic.

I went the match AR10 route, my shooting buddy the M21. Both great options, however with an adjustable glass block the AR10 suppressed easier and better with less tweaking. Both accurate and fun to shoot. Easier to put glass on the AR10. I like the options the AR platform brings, but I also like the classic nature of the Springfield. All depends on the end goal for you.

The only place the M1A has anymore is as a piece of history if you are into that kind of thing. There is zero reason to drop that kind of cash on one outside of collecting. If you want performance the AR10 is better in quite literally every metric, and for $3k you can get some really great ones like a JP, LMT, F4 Defense, or Seekins (or build your own or have one build by MSTN).
