Central Texas
Our little malti-poo Layla died today from congestive heart failure, she was 11 and was my best friend.
I know some on here may think they are not a manly kind of breed but she was fiercely loyal and loving to all especially our two grandsons.
I really want to find a new pup so if anyone knows of a good breeder in Texas please PM me.
I'm going to camp out with my grandson now and have a wake with a bowl of popcorn like Layla loved.

Sorry for your loss, been there many times.
Lost my old buddy Oscar in June of '21.
Left a big hole in our hearts, including his adopted sister Josie.
These two turds showed up thrown out and abused in July '22.

Even Josie is almost whole again.

Lots of dogs out there that need to be rescued. I recommend it.

Sorry for the loss! No matter the breed, the world would be a better place if humans had some of their traits!

Sincerest condolences, nothing compares to the loss of an unconditional companion.

Last year I committed to adopt a dog on the kill list one day before he was scheduled to be euthanized. I had a longtime friend who lives part time in Llano, TX and his wife volunteers at Hill Country Humane Society and see reached out to me after hearing our Lab has passed. We took delivery on May 14th last year and he just turned 16 months last week. He has turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made.

We've had many dogs and this guy appreciates life like no other and is the friendliest guy I've ever met.

Texas shelters are overrun with abandon dogs right now, rescuing an appreciative sweet soul that will love you unconditionally is a win-win in my book.

Thanks to y'all for the kind words. I'm in Bell county TX. and will check out shelters hereabouts. We'd really like to get another Malti-poo or similar small breed so again if anyone knows of a breeder in TX feel free to PM me.

Sorry. I know it sucks, I had to put my dog down because of cancer in August. About 3 months later my other dog was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He is in the final stage, we thought we were going to have to put him down a couple weeks ago, but he has been doing a little better, and eating a little more. His legs keep swelling up, and so does his abdomen. Its tough watching them be sick, and know they don't have much time left.

My 11 year old Beagle just was diagnosed with diabetes and Cushings disease. She was so sick thought it was the end. Now I am giving her insulin injections 2x a day. I was so nervous the first shot I almost stuck my own finger!! She is really doing better now, and fingers crossed she will be with us for a lot longer.

Sorry for your loss, have been through it several times. It never is easy for someone you love.

Please consider a rescue org or shelter. Thousands of companions looking for a home.

Had to put one of our boys (Shitzhu mix) down last week with congestive heart failure. Breaks my heart.

Those of you with small dogs will probably experience more congestive heart failure than those with big dogs. We learned he had heart issues about 3-4 years ago. Started feeding him baked salmon with his meals and the heart specialist my wife took him to said that kept any increases with the heart issues way down.

Can’t stop Father Time but It gave us years with him where he was having a good quality of life. He was 15.5 when we had to make the walk.

I’m terribly sorry for your loss Tomcatmv. It’s one of the hardest thing, to lose a best friend like that. I have a 15 year old, that’s in his end of days, and I truly dread that day.

Look up Maltipoo rescue in Texas. There are a couple different ones in TX. There’s typically a rescue for almost any breed in every state.

Nothing compares to the pain of losing a close pet....I'm a dog guy, so my life is marked by the passing of my dogs.
Try to remember the good times and know that you made that dog's life spectacular.
When I lose a dog, I find comfort in the presence of other pups.
Time will heal you.
