Lapua brass, neck sized, .308 Win
155gr Scenar @ 2.822" coal approx .010" off lands
45.5gr Varget

Re: Safe 155 Scenar load?

All my Varget loads aend up compressed.

My 155 Scenar load uses 47.8 gr, you are more than 2 grains light at this point. But ease up slowly as this is right on the edge of sane pressures.

Re: Safe 155 Scenar load?

I worked up my Scenar load to 47.1 in Lapua brass loaded at @ 2.835 COAL, I found the best accuracy in my rifle at 46.3gr so that is what I am going to use for a while. It does compress powder a little but I think anything much above 45gr will likely do the same unless you are seaing them out long. I wanted mine to fit in the magazine on my 700, and I don't have a really long chamber anyway so they work for me. Accuracy with this load at 100yds is about 1/3 moa in my rifle if I pay attention to what I am doing behind the trigger.

Re: Safe 155 Scenar load?

My 155-gr loads with 46.0 Varget in FC cases are also compressed a bit.

Shot the last of them (test loads...ugh) and got 3 MOA AGAIN. 2780 or so out of a 22-inch barrel.

We do the compressed load boogie all the time.

It ain't the gun or shooter--175s do much better.
