It is. So if you use one of those pussed up electric razors, GTFO.
I picked up wet shaving back in 2016 and haven’t looked back. Gillete cartridges are super overpriced, and electric “razors” (aside from being for girly men as noted above) burned the everliving eff out of my neck. When a buddy turned me on to using a DE w/ wet brush and told me it would “save me money,” I was all on board.
Then I found the lie. Unless you stick to a super basic razor, using cheap blades, and cheap Arko type soaps (nothing wrong with Arko for those who like it, but it IS cheap/inexpensive), then wet shaving will NOT save you money, lol.
I avoided the hardware acquisition disorder somehow. I found a few good DE razors that I liked (simple Gillettes and a PAA DOC, for the most part), a few brushes I like, and a bowl I liked, and that was that.
Software, on the other hand, was a real rabbit hole for me. I very much enjoyed the journey/experience of discovering new scents, new formulas or soaps, etc. I can’t explain why, but that was more appealing to me than the hardware side of things.
Sure, I dabbled in straights for awhile but found them to be too maintenance intensive for my liking if I wanted to keep them truly sharp. I DID enjoy how closely they shaved, however (I still can run my DEs that close without getting at least a little burn). But overall, not worth it.
But yeah. REAL men shave with REAL razors. Weenies shave with carts/electrics. Fight me.
