Gunsmithing sako style extractors

My f/Tr rifle is built on one of the early Prarie Gun Works Coyote single shot actions. These actions are a 2 lug design, and have a sako style extractor. Mine sometimes decides that it doesn't want to grab the rim, and then I'm stuck breaking position and doing the cleaning rod tango on the firing line. Is this sort of extractor adjustable, or do I simply need to be extra anal about cleaning my bolt face after each relay?

Re: sako style extractors

Hi if the extractor spring is week or you have some brass shavings behind it it can play up but most of the time they work flawless i would check it does not have grit under it and if it does not replace it with a new one to make sure that it has not worn on the claw.

Re: sako style extractors

It works great if I scrub the bolt face and all the associated crevices each at the end of each day of competition. It just seems to me that 50-60 rds shouldn't stock an extractor fro doing it's job. The season's over now, so it's headed to Gre-Tan for a bushing and a check up anyway.
