I had one just like yours and I believe the bolt face diameter is the same between those two cartridges (.532) so it should be a go but others can confirm/deny.
If this is correct then i would say yes.
Mag feed lip fiddling might be needed, but otherwise I do not see a problem.
Measure your magazine oal. If its not 3.7 or so, its probably not worth it. Factory ammo is over 3.6”.
Factory mag max COAL is 95 mm (3.74") it's a TRG-41/42 action after all.

Buuut... if you can get a .585 bolt you could have both. And also any other chambering that shares those bolt face diameters
Granted, but parts are available from Sako/Beretta (for a dual plunger set up as well).

If you want a 30 cal long range cartrige, why not go with the new milspec standard round. The 30 PRC is just...

If they’re “easy”(I’m sure this is relative) to get and op doesn’t mind spending the $$$ on another bolt then I concur. It would be sweet to have a TRG that’s equipped to shoot anything from 25 saum all the way to the XC cartridges from Dave Tubb
No, sorry. I wasn't specific enough. A bolt in any bolt face is a pain to get, near impossible, but the claw and extractor are available as spare parts for all three TRG bolt faces (IIRC the 338 spare parts include double plungers).
I personally would not go this route, or any .30 cal cartridge, but that's me. The 7 mm Rem mag is more than enough for any ethical hunting distance (for me).
The rifle, though heavy-ish, is IMHO (or liking) not heavy enough to mitigate the recoil of large magnums. I've had one in 300 Win mag and added a thicker softer pad to make it easier on my shoulder.
So, I would keep it a 7 mm Rem mag (or 30 Win mag) with a 26" semi heavy contour for stationary hunting.
But if OP wants a .30 cal cartridge for what ever reason, as I said, why not go with the Norma? Still a 30 cal and, I imagine, more widespread than the PRC.
For a long range range gun, I'd put it in a PAU TAC, Cadex or KRG W3 (or TRG) and chamber it in 300 Norma. Why choose anything less than what its capable of?
But I'd need OP's intention for the rifle, which he has not yet given.
He can’t “just” re-barrel to 300 Norma, wrong bolt face. It would take a new bolt and having it fitted to his action by a gunsmith
I agree with you about a 7mm cartridge too, I’d just choose 7 saum(personal preference). Very very versatile caliber

The 7 mm SAUM is a great cartridge, but the TRGS/M995 action is long and for that reason I went with a 280AI and not a 7mm-08 when I put a new barrel on my TRG-S recently. The 7SAUM would probably also require a new magazine to work properly.
I am a huge fan of the TRG-S, hence my activity in this thread, and i have had three so far...

Depending on how easy it it to re-barrel your TRG, you could have both the 300 prc and your 7mm rm. And/or several other chamberings

The rifle would be for stationary hunting of primarily elk and moose. Moose in Idaho is hard to get drawn for, but elk is a given. Punching paper is always fun at the KD range. I do some back country horse packing so I’m not all that concerned with the weight of the rifle. I wanted to get away from a belted magnum, seemed like the 300 PRC was a good choice with the added horse power a plus. Being 66, and becoming less recoil tolerant, I’m thinking with a good brake the 300 PRC would be tolerable for me, not so much for anybody else at the range

By the way, the Tikka TAC A1 (and the Sako TRG-22/42 as well) shoulder pad is a perfect fit and a good bit thicker than the stock ¼" pad.

Spin up barrels for both. You could add 25 saum for long range pronghorn hunting too. Just pointing out options
