Ok guys I have yet another question I hope you can help with. I have the option of selling my Remington XCR 308 and picking up a savage 10 BAS. I am still new to all this long range stuff. Which rifle do you think is better?

Thanks again everyone.

Re: savage 10 bas vs remy XCR

well i have had my savage 10 bas/k for going on 4 years now. and it never seases to amaze me with its groups never fired or owned a remington with the xcr chassis so i cant comment on it. i do have a savage model 10 i rebarreled to 6.5 creedmoor and i am thinking of putting it in the xcr chassis even though its the most accurate rifle i have ever shot.

Re: savage 10 bas vs remy XCR

i like the way the savage looks, but looks arent everything. i have a savage 10fp that shoots very well, there isnt as many options for it as far as after market. so i bought a remington 700 to build up. the savage you are looking at already has the scope rail, pistol grip, and adjustable stock, not to mention the detach mag. on my 700 i had to do all of those upgrades to it. in the long run i spent just as much as it would of cost me to buy the bas. all in all they are both good rifles. its guna be personal preference. i will say that the bas looks badass but its not for me. sounds like u are ready to move on past the remington so the savage will be a good change. good luck hope i was helpful let us know how it turned out

Then why would you sell it????????

Check it out and see how its shooting. If you're satisfied, then keep shooting.

If not, you can do more with a 700 action than Savage.

Re: savage 10 bas vs remy XCR

For whatever it's worth, I did get the '09 BAS/k,(10 action...) then only in .308. Our range goes to 700, I used 168 gr FMK nd now 175 gr FMK reloads from a company out west. At the time, I literally had to find the most bang for the buck. Based on what my inexperienced eyes see, I'm glad I got it. Yes, you have to use some of the foam packing to put underneath the flimsy "cheek weld" so it doesn't smush down, but all in all, I couldn't afford others in the same ballpark of performance. (Remmy is what I wanted) Didn't have the money, and glad now maybe I didn't. It is a very good gun. And this stuff about it being a mid range gun is not true. At 700 it is very, very accurate, and I am a beginner. The newer models are probably better.
