My statement was plenty accurate. There are very few drop in, 100% functional off the shelf replacement stocks for the FCP-K. Savage switched to a bottom bolt release and none of the standard centerfeed stocks have a mechanism to accomodate that bolt release. I don't know about you but I don't wanna pull the action out of the stock and screw up my POI every time I need to clean the barrel.
If you have your eye on a high end build based off an FCP-K, prepare to ship out your barreled action for custom inletting, spend a lot of money and wait a very long time to get it back when you could have just bought a standard Savage SA used for $350, dropped in your own barrel in 20 minutes, bought a McMillan off the shelf, bolted it in and shot 3/4 min in the first place; not to mention the compatibility issues the FCP-K has with aftermarket triggers and the smooth barrel nut that takes a pipe wrench or $45 proprietary nut wrench to get off.
The point of having a Savage is that anyone can 'smith it, but a centerfeed stock and trigger job on this weapon(which are essential parts of a high end or even budget precision build) would need to be custom fitted. It just doesn't make sense.
And just so we're clear that I'm not ignorantly bashing Savage, this is the XLR chassis on my FCP-K which was developed specifically for the FCP-K. Kyle inlets these for all Savages but when ordering, you must specify centerfeed, staggerfeed or fcp-k because it's a completely different system than the other two. It's a fine weapon but it's NOT 100% compatible with all centerfeed stocks. In my opinion Savage had a winner here but dropped the ball with the bolt release, trigger issues and smooth barrel nut.
