Savage 110 243 or remm 700vls 243?

Ok so I talked before about getting a 10yr old + savage 243 in a long action and opted to get it but now I have some one who wants to buy it off me and for 300 more I could pick up a lightly used (bought new within the last) rem 700 vls in 243. My only dilemma is that extra 300 I was going to use to get some extras like rear bag, stock pack, action bedded etc. so I guess I am wondering wether I should stick with the savage and improve it ( it has factory sported stock and pencil barrel) or spend all my money and go with the Remington? Thanks for your advice and yes I'm a newbie trying to do it right and not have to waste money

Id go for the vls with the laminate stock and heavy barrel vs the sporter savage. But then again the last couple savages ive had gave me issues so ive stuck to my remingtons and never had troubles again.
