Thinking about getting a 110 ba in a .300 win mag. since i have a 300 winchester currently. 338 is to expensive for me to shoot. My question is how good is the rifle. Hearing both good and bad around home. Just wanted to get it from you guys before i drop $2200 for something that may not live up to the hype.

Re: savage 110 ba

I have one and I like it. The recoil is pretty mild as I have no problem going out and putting 50 rounds down it and not feeling sore at all. The 20 moa base that comes with it is a bit of overkill and weighs a ton. I have a NF 5-22x50 on it and total weight with the scope and bi-pods is 18.6 pounds according to the bathroom scale so don't plan on packing it around unless you are a real gorilla. Other than it being heavier than shit its a pretty nice gun.

Re: savage 110 ba

I'm just over 25 rounds thru my 338 110 BA and love it so far.

Going to put the rest of my rounds thru it this weekend with a decent scope on it. Not much discussion that I have found about them vs many other rifles. Most likely meaning, no word is good word. The bash threads I have seen seem to be operator error rather than bad gun. I got a 2" 3 shot group at 350yds (farthest i had) while getting used to it.

Looking to go 700-1000 this weekend!!!

The recoil out of my 338 110BA is similar to my 6-7lb 30-06 hunting rifle. Creampuff. The 300wm should be an all day shooter

OH and much cheaper lol.

Enjoy

edit. price should be near 1800 if you look a bit. Mine was 1825 and I have seen a few at 1700+ Good luck.

Re: savage 110 ba

Mine was $1980 with taxes. I did see them for less on gun broker but I wanted to help out my local gun shop since he gives me great prices on ammo all the time. I got in 200 rounds of Fed GMM 190gr at the same time.

It has still not been fired and I picked it up a month ago because I am waiting on my dang scope to come in. I ordered a PMII with DT, CCW, MRAD, P4F.. they seem to be rare these days.

Has anyone with a 110BA looked into a picatinny rail for the bottom to mount an Atlas bipod to? I am still needing to find a solution there.

Re: savage 110 ba

Just went out about about 2 hours ago and shot this five round group @ 1160 yard with my 110 BA in .300WM. I took an IDPA cardboard silhouette target and cut the 8inch center circle out and left the rest intact. Then I just spray painted the outline and center circle as you can see. The second picture shows the entire target before I shot it. Its a 36 inch square piece of AR 400. I didn't measure the group but my hands are about average size and the orange circle is 8 inches so you get the idea.

The conditions were about as ideal as you could ask for as this is probably my best group ever at this range. My load is:

300 WM
Winchester Brass w/ 4 fires
74.6 grains H1000
208 A-Max loaded to just touching the lands (3.592 OAL)
CCI BR Primer

Conditions:
49 degrees
29.86 pressure
%61 humidity
4600 elevation
31.5 MOA adjustment from 200 yard zero
1/2 MOA left for wind
2890-2910 fps
1-3 MPH wind as measured by Kestrel

So if you are still having questions on weather or not these can shoot, here is some proof that they do just fine and like most guns, they shoot better than most can operate them which is usually the case with me!

I put a rather garbage and soon to be changed sling swivel to pic rail adapter on mine. It works but.. And what in the hell were they thinking? Rails up the ass except on the bottom where I might actually use one for some thing practical.

Nice group varmitslayer!
