Got hands on Savage in subject line in .338 Lapua.
Anyone have the same rifle?
Is the rail installed by Savage flat or any cant on it?
If canted, 20 MOA, 30?
I have heard conflicting info on the mags as to whether they meet CIP specs or not. Haven't got any answer from Savage yet, anyone here know?
Whose mags do they use AICS, proprietary, other?

Finally, how do you like it?

Re: Savage 110 FCP HS Prec

Additionally, plan to lap the barrel with some JB prior to initial break in; good or bad idea??

May eventually drop it in a chassis, but for now plan on seeing how it works for me in the HS Prec from the factory.

Had looked at the custom build using TAC 338 action, rock creek or bartlein bbl, mcrees chassis, mags, brakes, etc. and was ending up well over $3000 by the time I got everything delivered and assembled by a "smith", that is pre-optics of course. The 110 FCP came along and for its cost, plus a future XLR or possibly Mccrees (if they get to building a LA savage chassis) folder, I can still be less than the 110 BA and well under a custom build.

Re: Savage 110 FCP HS Prec

I looked at that rifle, and ended up purchasing the 110BA. Bot guns have 20 MOA canted rails. They can use AICS mags, but are shipped with an Accurate Arms magazine (stamped 3.850), which is the OD dimension. Plan to keep your loads (if you reload) at 3.750 COAL or less.

The BA chassis is what sold me on the gun, and I didn't want to have to upgrade it later to a McRees. Two of my buddies also own the 110BA, and all three are shooters, and top quality. I set my Accu Trigger to 1# 12 oz, and it breaks nice. I actually sold my TRG-42 as the Savage shoots "softer" and is just as accurate.

Watch for deals...you can sometimes pick up a 110BA for $1600 +/-.

Thanks for input.
I got into the FCP HS Prec NIB for under under $1030 all inclusive of shipping, FFL fees, etc.
Cheapest BA's I seen anywhere are online and around $1750 plus shipping, transfer fees, etc.

I looked at BA's, picked em up (heavy), etc etc and thought it was really nice setup with great adjustability in the Magpul stock setup, but at the end of the day couldn't justify an additional $800+.

Talked to Mccrees and i got impression a LA savage chassis might be in the mix at some point, but no idea if/when for sure.

Glad the mags are CIP spec.
Thanks again.
