I settled on a load about two range trips ago, but I haven't had a chance to take it up to 300 yards yet until this morning. My local range only goes to 300 so that's why I didn't go any further.
Here's the setup. Yes, it was REALLY early this morning. I was putting the target up using a flashlight about 20 minutes prior to snapping this pic.
That's a Savage 110 FCP HS with a cheek pad from triad tactical, NF ultralite rings, and a NF NXS 5.5-22 scope on caldwell bags front and rear.

As the light started coming up a fog rolled in... The last white backstops you see are 200. The 300 yards are hidden behind the fog.

I figured what the heck, I'll try to shoot anyway. I should've saved the ammo lol. Good news is that the Hornady ballistics calc website got me dialed in perfectly. I was exactly 9 clicks up from my 200 yard zero.
I ended up killing 20 minutes waiting for the light to come up and the fog to go away by shooting at rabbits with my sig I keep in the center console. =)
Once the light was up and the fog was gone, I pasted a 50 ft small bore target, and shot 4 groups back to back. My POI walked about 1/4-1/3 moa left between the first and third group as the barrel heated up, so on my final group I moved one click over right and got it back on center. In order, bottom right, top right, bottom left, top left (dialed over .25 moa right to compensate).

Average group size was .53 moa! Best was 0.47 moa!
If you can't tell, I'm pretty stoked. If you are looking for a 338 lapua and are nervous about the "cheap" Savage, don't be.
