Posting this for my son. AO rebarreled and put there magic on this gun a few years back. It has the factory accutrigger in it. Recently the red part of that trigger freezes up and it won't fire. You can kick a round out and put another one in and it works fine. Are these triggers known for this or going bad and is there after market triggers for these rifles? The rifle has around 500 RDS threw it and has never had a hick up. Is it the trigger?

The trigger is set very light, if you're aggressive with the bolt or pull the trigger to the side slightly this will happen. Just lift the bolt handle and lock it back. Be more gentle and pull straight back on the trigger. Should be fine, or turn the trigger weight up a bit. As said before, it's a common problem.

As others have said, it’s common. I thinks it’s more of a safety feature then problem.

I liked it as it forced me to use correct 90 degree trigger pulls. Shot the rifle for two years without it causing a problem at matches. If it does happen, just lift the bolt and close. No need to pull it back or extract the round.

Like the others said, light setting on trigger. Adjust it heavier, just over 1 lb should do it. Or move the bolt more gently and use good trigger technique. If you don't it will trip it and you'll need to lift the bolt to reset it. Leave it light and it will teach you good trigger use.

Yes, the trigger can get balky when set at its minimum pull weight limits. So I wouldn't.

My thinking is that marksmanship skills should stress adaptability. The shooter's abilities should encompass being able to work with whatever trigger one is presented with, unless it's faulty.

In a case similar to yours, I realized that the weak component was myself. I was asking too much from the trigger, and I really ought to be able to make it work fine at a more reliable pull weight setting. I did, and I could, and it was enlightening (no pun); my own limits were the important factor.

I have an LRP action with the Accutrigger and have the same issues, I have another Savage with the Rifle Basix SAV-1 set lighter than the Accutrigger and have never had a single problem with the Rifle Basix.
