Re: Savage 93r17gv
First range report bottom line: she shot pretty well - so far so good.
Before I went to the range I took a closer look at the bolt. Some rough finish work, a few nasty nicks and some strange milling marks.
While i wasnt expecting this i thought for the price point its understandable.
So i cleaned everything up, specd the action screws to 12lb and headed out.
I shot 5 break in rounds before shooting the 5 groups pictured below. I didnt bother bore pasting or anything like that. Just ran some wet (G96 Lube) and dry patches down the barrel between the rounds.
It was damn near impossible to bore site this rifle. The .17 cal tube just doesnt transmit enough light (at least for my eyes). So I shot for both groups and sight adjustment. Each group is a five shot group and I started from the bottom left, then bottom right. Top left, top right and shot the final center target last. (The picture below is on its side in the thread. For whatever reason even though i have the image correctly sided on my computer my uploader converts it so just imagane you were holding it with the title correctly at top. Sorry)
I pulled two shots on the top left target so you can chalk that one up to shooter error.
I shot the groups on a half ass work bench that wasnt wide enough to support my elbows or deep enough to place a rear bag. It was hot and dank feeling and I had sweat dripping into my eyes the whole damn time. I would have stayed longer and shot more but I wasnt real comfortable.
All 5 5 shot goups were at 50 feet at an indoor range using Federal Premium 17gr VMAX.
Hope to get more out of her once we get out doors. I really like this gun.
Thanks
