So they held the first savage day at our range today. The savage rep. and the Nikon rep. were there with many of there toys. The savage rep had roughly 15 rifles with him they were all bolt rifles no semi auto's. All of them were topped with Nikon glass there were 3 rifles set up at the 600 yard range and and 9 or 10 set up at the 100 yard range.

At the 600 yard range they had the 300 win mag tactical, .308 bench rest single shot, and 6.5 creedmore heavy barrel 110.

At the 100 yard they had a hunter in .300 win mag, 2-.17's, 6.5 creedmore in there light series 6 lbs, .308 hunter, 2-.22's, 20 gauge bolt, 12 gauge bolt

They had all the horniday v-max match ammo you could shoot for free

All of the rifles shot very well I was most impressed with the .300 tactical at 600 yards I put a total of 8 out of 8 shots in the 10 ring I did not fair as well with the .308 and the 6.5. I'm sure it was more me than the rifles. I just think it was good of them to show up and hold this event from 9 to 3:30. I had to check out early because I have a wedding to go to i was there form 9: to 12:00 and it was a blast. They are really going all out with shows like this they must have had $10k in ammo there alone. I am sure horniday supply's it to them at little or no cost.

Just thought I would pass this on they are doing good things.

Re: savage day at the range

1=300 mag was using hornady soft point match it was not the v-max

2= they were using the monarch series they were nice.

3= our 1000 yard is under construction the shooting platform is pored and the block walls are up but the roof trusses are not up yet the back stop is there but the target system is not built yet its close but not quite.

nikon had some of there spotting scopes there they were nice and some of there range finders nice as well for the price

Re: savage day at the range

I talked to the savage rep for a bit and he was saying that they are launching a campaign to do this type of event at popular ranges all over the country. If ranges contact them and are interested in hosting such events and the turn out will be good than there is a good chance they will hold an event like this at your range as well. I called a friend that was there after the event and he said they estimated over 200 people showed for the event

Re: savage day at the range

My range emails all of its events to its members. this was open to the public so some gun shops spread the word as well. We had people from as far away as Pennsylvania show up

Re: savage day at the range

we had ours last year, shot the 110 ba, 12 palma and varmint, 11 longrange hunter, the TR, and a few other models. everything from .22lr to .223 to .308, to 300 win mag.

everything had nikon monarchs on it, and all the centerfire ammo was hornady - by the case!

at my savage day i think they were running 55gr vmax in the .223s, 150gr superperformance in the .308s, i i think 150gr superperformance in the .300mag

they had the 20guage bolt and a few others in the club house to fondle, and really good prices on nikon products, especially rangefinders.

if you get a chance to go, do it, at least to shoot most of the day for free using some quality rifles, scopes, and ammo.

heck that one day paid for my yearly dues in ammo.
