I have a .300WM Rock Creek 1/10 twist 30" 5r on the way, and am trying to decide if I'm going to re-barrel my Savage 112bvss, or just start over with a Rem700 action. I want to take full advantage of the long barrel and the Berger 230gr OTM's, and am wondering if the short OAL that the Savage mag box allows will negate the advantages I might have if I use a Rem 700 action & a longer mag box. The Savage only allows me to seat the Berger 230gr out to 3.490". This is basically a question of weather or not reduced powder capacity will result significant velocity loss. Thanks in advance for any replies.
