I looked at a Savage Mark II F today, and thought about picking it up for a truck .22lr.

The price is reasonable enough that I don't have to worry about it getting banged up a little, and I can tuck it away behind the seat.

I won't be scoping it as I shoot a lot of ground hogs out to 100 yds. from the road, so I feel that open sights will be ok.

Are these rifles accurate, and worth $150?

Re: Savage Mark II F .... Accurate?

Is it the Accu-trigger, or non Accu-trigger?

If it's the accu-trigger variant then I'd say that's a heck of a deal. If it's the non version, then you'll find that the trigger is in the 7 lbs range with no adjustment. Still worth the $150 if it's new though. I bought one (non-accu) for my son a while back and he still loves it.

Both versions are just as accurate, but one needs some trigger work.

Re: Savage Mark II F .... Accurate?

If it's got the accutrigger jump on it and don't look back, even if it may not have that trigger it's still a good deal. Savage makes some really good rifles and very accurate right out of the box. Can't beat them for the price

This is a new rifle from a local dealer. He has 14 in stock, and I'm thinking of buying 2 or 3 of them. One for the truck, one for the cabin as a closet gun, and one to put back for 'just in case' I want another one some day.

From what I can tell the dealer is selling them for $15 to $20 cheaper than anyone around. Bud's Guns has them for $180 - something.
