Savage rebarrel question

I was wandering if it is possible to rebarrel a savage 10 in .223 to a .308.

I understand that the bolt head will need to be switched with that of a .308. and the follower will have to be changed to the .308 with out a spacer.

Just wandering if it is possible. Or if anyone on the hide has done this.

Savage barrel changes are easy....you don't even need a 'smith.Set of go/no go guages,good vise,barrel nut wrench.You are correct about the bolt face and mag...

You must also change the baffle behind the bolt head. It limits the bolt travel to the bolt stop.

Both of those calibers are small shank short actions, so you are good to go with a bolt face change.
