Re: Savage Rimfire
I have 2 - a 93 in 22mag and a Mk II in 22lr, both with heavy barrel and accutrigger
The 22 mag with a flexible plastic stock (FV model) gives me consistient 1" groups at 100 yards. The stock isn't really set up for scope use - the comb is too low. So I've gotten the Boyds thumbhole stock to convert it to BTV format, but I'm poor so I've not gotten the new bottom metal I need.
My Mk II came in BTV format. With CCI Blazer ammo, the one time I had it out at the range I was getting good groups at 25 and 50, so I decided to go for 100 yards. Windy day, shifting winds, blustery. Kept on shooting, same bull. Ended up with a 25 shot 2" group at 100 yards. The white square in the middle is 1"x1".
I think that to get an equal you'll have to spend 2x the money... money I'd rather spend on glass and ammo.
Note that if you are having problems deciding on caliber, they are inexpensive enough to have several
Also, there are a couple of posts on rimfirecentral.com about modifying them to take Ruger 10/22 or 77/22 barrels...
