When you buy a barrel "blank" it's just a tube with a rifled hole through it.

A gunsmith has to cut, crown, thread, chamber, etc.

So Schneider makes the blank. GAP makes it into a rifle.

Re: schneider USMC contract barrel

I saved about 1k building it myself but it depends on what smith you use cause every smith has different pricing and I also got lucky on my A4. Two man attack is selling an eric Ried M40A3 for 3500 which is the GAP price, BUT 1, it was built by the best possible person to have it built by, 2 you dont have to wait for the stock to be made, and 3 you dont have to wait for the gunsmithing work to be completed. My smith had my parts for 6 months lol so you decide pay about 600-900 more and get it now or wait 6 months. Your call. Hope this helps

Re: schneider USMC contract barrel

wait GAP can't make world peace happen? are you sure, I think you are a hater!

All kidding aside, most smiths will cut/chamber/crown a barrel for around 200-300 bucks, another 75-200 to threaded it/time your muzzle device if it needs timing.

See if you can find the lilja video about the inside of a built to order barrel vs. a built to Remington production standards barrel. It might make you cry...
