School me on triggers for the M40

If you want to be a purest, you need a 700 trigger with the 2 piece sear and tombstone safety. Or you can put in just about anything else for the 700, Trigger Tech, Bix N Andy etc.

It’s just a tuned walker trigger nothing fancy. But if you are picky about going clone correct it the only way to go.
Unless you are talking about one for an M40a1 then it has a piece cut out of it.

Tony,

Another reason to consider buying an old Remington 700 .243 or 22-250 for your build. If you find a BDL, you get your trigger, bottom metal, and receiver with recoil lug and bolt. Building out your bare receiver may end up costing the equivalent of gathering parts. Not to mention time invested searching.

Again it’s all about your vision and what’s important to your build. An early 700 BDL is essentially an instant parts kit.
In M14 terms, you can buy a modern Springfield Armory M1A, then hunt down the USGI parts vs. finding a good 5 line “Golden Era” and upgrading the barrel and stock to build your dream rifle.

As you may have guessed, I’m of fan of old rifles, for old style builds.

Stay the course,
Greg
