hope this question makes sense and isn't too dumb. in using the bases and rings to adjust windage,do you move the scope like a rear sight or like a front sight? my problem is a 22 with millet rings and a fullfield scope.ran way out of adjustment to get it on target (shooing way + 1' lt @ 50 with no right clicks remaining. have used the scope on another rifle and got it on center OK. same with the gun/base/ring setup with a different scope. i am looking to move the whole scope one way or another. millets give a bit of windage play as i see it.

Re: scope adjustment with windage bases/rings

move both rings equally to the right, as if looking from behind the scope.

a foot left and running out of right adjustment should mean that it's too far left.

if you have the time, loosen the right side of the ring "clamps" 1 or two turns, then tighten the left side up as equal as you can on both rings. keep doing that until you have to dial at least some left adjustment into the scope.

if you have the time and gumption, count the the number of "clicks" it takes to get all out left to all out right.
set up the scope using the adjustment on the rings until the distance between the two are as equal as you can get them so you'll always have a good amount of adjustment on either side. (this'll help getting it more on line with the bore too)

hey thanks. that was my thought, but i wanted input from someone who knew. didn't want to blow a range session going the wrong way. only windage setup i have used is on a mosin PU scope-THAT was a tooth pull. thanks again.

no problem. luckily it's .22lr the gas to get to the range will cost you more than ammo.

make sure to move both rings though, or the scope will want to flex wanting to be a V.

if you have one of those ghey caldwell bench vise thingies, you can lock the rifle in place, pull out the bolt, center the bullseye in the center of the bore, then keep moving the scope over until your crosshairs are on or to the right of the bullseye too.

Re: scope adjustment with windage bases/rings

yea, with a 22 looking down the barrel to bore site ain't happening with old eyes here. i did not want to torque the scope so did want to move the whole thing not just front/back separately.
