Some time back I saw a scope cross hair alignment device and I cant remember the name of it and where to buy one.
The device sits on a vee system both on the top of the scope and on top of the barrel directly below the scope . A sighting line infront of the scope objective is between the top and bottom of the vee's -can someone help me with this.
Many thanks

Totally agree, takes no time at all and they are cheap and accurate.

Re: scope alignment device

I use a 3 foot carpenters level, plumb bob, and a little spirit level about 1.5 inches long to square everything up.

1. Level rifle action.
2. while rifle action is still level (over picatinny rail), insure that vertical scope crosshair is straight up and down.
3. Use feller gauges to insure that I have about the same amount of gap where the upper and lower scope rings mate together.
4. Tighten screws alternately going VERY slowly...very loose, snug, finger tight, very finger tight, then with torque wrench. This keeps the scope from being twisted inside the rings by clamping down one side with uneven pressure.

So far, this seems to work well for me and those I have showed it to. I think the key is the plumb line/vertical stadia line meeting.

It worked for me

Re: scope alignment device

+2 for UNKNOWN's method, but I use a Starrett Master Precision Level (1 grad. = .0005" per linear foot) and place it on the top of the lower scope ring to get my horizontal reference plane.
