Can the scope bell be to close to the barrel on a large caliber like a 338. I have a SB 56mm with 1" badgers. I have .088 clearnce at the bell. A Butler creek will fit but it just kisses the barrel at the very bottom. With barrel flex on firing can this damage the scope? I have read the sticky and Glen stated he had filed the bottom of BC covers but also made a statement about ? minimum clearance on a 50 cal. I know a 338 ain't a 50 but could my clearance be to close?
