Rifle Scopes Scope for 10/22 trainer

I have a SWFA SS 3-9 on my .308 and I'm building up a 10/22 trainer. I have been scouring the internet for a scope without much luck.

Here is what I am looking for:

-Costs less than $200
-Mil dot reticle
-Target-ish turrets that track reasonably well.
-No larger than 42mm objective (want to stay low)
-Fair amount of available adjustment. 40MOA plus
-If it is mil/mil that would be superb, but I realize highly unlikely

Would like to stay low magnification. Preferably variable but this fixed 10x has me tempted. It looks like Bushnell's answer to the SWFA SS and would perfect for keeping the feel the same; other than it is a fixed 10x which probably won't be ideal at such short ranges: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/950843/...t-reticle-matte

I expect to shoot this rifle from 25-200 yards.

Any one have any suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Scope for 10/22 trainer

I am also in the process of building a 10/22 into a trainer. My personal oppinion would be that the Bushnell would be a better choice, for me atleast due to the matching reticle and turrets. The Nikon has the variable power which is a plus but at our price range I belive we will not find a variable power mil/mil scope.
Off topic but what type of work have you done to your 10/22?
thanks

Re: Scope for 10/22 trainer

rware, here is what I've done so far:

- Kidd 16.5" bull barrel
- Kidd extractor
- Hogue OD overmolded stock
- Tactical Solutions 15 moa rail

Plans include:
-Harris bi pod
-Stock and rings tbd
-If I get a trigger job done on my .308, then I'll put a voltzquarten spring and hammer kit in it. Otherwise I'll stick with two crappy triggers since they match better
-Probably a Karsten cheek piece

Agreed, unfortunately I can't afford another SWFA. So I'm trying to find something as close as I can within budget

Re: Scope for 10/22 trainer

Keebler,
Sounds like a good build, I am planning on going with a Kidd barrel, I am interested in one of the mini A5 stocks that captain kirk sells on here but I might go with something different. I plan on tracking all of the progress to see what ACTUAL gains in accuracy i am gaining from a stock configuration. I am going to try to do all of the work myself. More than i trainer i am just looking for something cheaper to shoot than my 308 and something to keep me busy. I love starting projects, finishing is a different story. I have tons of actions, barrels, stocks in the closet but none have made it to a smith yet.
Good luck with your build.

Thanks, likewise. Something I read when researching 10/22 barrels is that at 50 yards it is really difficult to tell the difference in accuracy from one barrel to the next. Apparently once you start pushing 100 or more is where the Kidd barrels are supposed to stand out. If you are tracking data, that would be something to validate.

Haven't gotten any yet but I'm going to give Wolf match ammo a shot. Have heard good things about that stuff.

Anyway, back to scopes. Leaning towards the Nikon due to the field of view issues with a fixed 10x at 22 ranges...
