Rifle Scopes Scope for 30-30

I recently got a really clean Marlin 336 from my dad for xmas that was a hand down from his dad. I am looking to put some optics on it and make it my main hunting gun and leave my heavy tactical rifle at home. I am looking at something 2-7 range or maybe 1-4. Anyone try the bushnell 1-4x24 with illum reticle? Any help would be great.

Sorry, can't make a comment about scope you've mentioned. However, here is a very nice scope for a bargain price that is well suited for your Marlin rifle. Recall posts of its buyers putting it on your type of rifle and then saying how happy with it they were. This scope is discontinued, why the low price, but same as a Weaver grand slam scope that sells for around $300. Warranty will be handled by Weaver.

A red dot of some sort. Spot for antlers with some binocs and shoot your red dot.

Got one on a Ruger Deerslayer .44 Mag. and will never go back.

For a .30-30, I wouldn't go over 7x. Unless you're using hornadys leverevolution ammo, then you might kick it up to 9x max.

I'd think something like the Vortex Viper PST 1-4x24 would fit that bill. Mine will eventually find it's way over to my Marlin 336.

Yea I wanted the Vortex Viper 2-7 but they are no longer. I own a few other Vortex optics and Im very happy with them.
