Rifle Scopes Scope for a centerfire 40-X

I have a 1972 Rem 40-X in .308 that I would like to find a "period" scope for. I shoot 100yards, and sometimes 200 yards casually on weekends. I was thinking of a 20X Fixed, but concerned about the durability of the Redfield 3200 / 6400 on a .308. . I know that a Rem BR 20X was made but was a limited production . I'd love to hear any other suggestions. My goal is to match up the era of production as best I can with the rifle

An old Unertl would look great on it. Leatherwood Optics is also making scopes that look the Unertl below.

I have a 20X litschert on my 22lr Winchester, I was concerned that the recoil would be a problem on a .308 40x ?
