I bought a Sig Cross in 308 for hunting purposes, so I thought I would try a SFP scope for something fairly light and durable (I realize a hard combination) and I think I have limited to the Credo and the VX 5hd. The LHT was on the list, but after reading several forum posts on these the reviews are kind of mixed so I crossed it off the list. I have not found a lot on the Credo and am unsure where it stands in regards to glass and tracking. It seems most like the glass and tracking of the VX 5HD though there are certainly a few complaints.

All that said, does anyone have any experience in comparing the two of these? Any other thoughts?

This will be exclusively a hunting gun, I will shoot it in 308 until the barrel is out, then may change, but not yet. Looking to keep it light, durable, and not really wanting to put $2k in glass on it. I'm open to other suggestions, but after reading a lot one these two would be likely where I will end up.

Also - thoughts about mounts? Are rings okay? Or do I need a cantilever mount on the Cross?

Thank you for any in put.

Rings are fine, but the rail is 0MOA inclination. If you think you need more elevation you're probably going to have to get it from a mount. I wound up with a Badger 20MOA unimount, but there are a ton of them that would work.

I'm pretty useless on which SFP scopes are the rage, but I have a Swarovski Z5i that's been good for exactly what you're describing. Also, if you poke around the Leica ER5 2-10X can be found used well under 1K and it is excellent IMO.

I appreciate the input, I will definitely go with a 20 MOA mount instead of rings, just in case.

I tried to find a Leica ER5 for sale, but nothing so far, I will keep watching.

If anyone has any input on a comparison of the two scopes above, I would love to hear it. I have a Mark 5HD and some older VX-IIIs but none of the newer ones and I have never owned a Trijicon.
