I have a Remington 700 Police MLR 338 Lapua Magnum that I had customized. Barrel was fluted and a new custom brake installed also the bolt was fluted with a tac handle installed. Everything was cerakoted in black and the stock was upgraded to a McMillan A5 Tactical and the rifle was professionally bedded to the stock. Needless to say, I spent almost $6000 so far.

I need an optic so I can finally shoot this baby. Im trying to save some cash and use my cc points on a scope and from my cc website mall, following are the ones that stood out as a decent value. What do yall think about them and recommend if I decide to just buy and say screw tge budget??

Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP Riflescope
W/ EBR-1 MOA Reticle - Black Matte - PST-624F1-A

Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 Riflescope W/
EBR-1 MRAD Reticle - Black Matte - PST-624S1-M

Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 Riflescope W/
EBR-1 MOA Reticle - Black Matte - PST-624S1-A

Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24 x 50mm
Illuminated Mil-Dot Riflescope Model # ET64245F

Bushnell 654305B Elite6500 4.5-30X50 Matte Doa Sf
Elite 6500 - 4.5-30x50 Matte Black DOA 600 Side Focus*Model # 654305B

I personally would say screw the budget. You already have 6k into a rifle and are looking at 1k glass. I would at LEAST look at the SWFA SS HD or a Vortex Razor...at MINIMUM. A rifle in the 6k range should be treated with upper tier glass.

Agreed but I have nowhere close to shoot beyond 200yds without making a huge roadtrip.

All good choices except for the Bushnell 4.5-30.
The glass is not good enough to pull off 30x.
I've had a few ET 6-24x50s and they are good scopes.
The Vortex matches all the Bushnell ET6245F features plus a rudimentary (but effective) zero stop.
I've heard the Bushnell 6-24 has a slight edge in optical quality, but never seen them side by side to compare.

I've looked through a Vortex 6-24x50 FFP and was pretty impressed with what I saw.
A lot of features for the money and the best warranty in the business.

Bushy also has a lifetime warranty on ET products but I hear the wait for repairs can be a few months, as compared to a week for Vortex.

My experience with Vortex; I just bought a demo model off samplelist.com (SWFA sells demos and such for reduced prices, check the site before you buy elsewhere) and it was missing a few parts. Given the price I got, I was happy to buy the replacements from Vortex. Sent them an email inquiring how I could buy the parts. They asked me for my shipping address and sent them for free.

Vortex rocks.

You probably don't want to hear this, but you've got the wrong rifle to shoot 200 yards and less.
Life with a .338 LM begins at 400 yards.

You can not use that as an excuse excuse......you are putting this on a .338 Lapua Magnum!!

I hear from where youre coming from but understand where im coming from as well. Its a badass rifle, not gonna deny that, thanx for the compliment. Understand tho that these scopes are no slouch and theure FREE!! I can get the Vortex HD for almost free as well if that makes you feep better but that was not the initial question in my original post.

I wanna know how those optics stack up and also a recommendation if I do break the bank and go with whatever is the "best".. Thats all I wanna know.

Furthermore, do keep in mind I wont get it past 200 yards unless I travel at least a couple states aeay from home. Thays where those higher end optics will come into play I assume.

Thanx for the advise.. I agree the 338LM is not condusive for my area but I plan on taking it out further than 200yds at some point. I found a range that is not too far away and has 600yard capability plus my buddy has a farm that we can shoot at thats only 70 miles from my home that we can shoot as far as the eye can see but ive never taken a stab at it. I plan on doing so with my 308 firat until I get comfy with this 338 and then we will see. In the meantime getting a $1000ish optic for free and using it to learn my rifle and upgrading to something $2000plus later seems like a good idea considering the 1st optic still has strong value and can be resold... Right?

I say go with the Bushnell. Excellent reviews,a nd they let you try it for a year. If you don't like it for any reason they will refund all your money.

I've bought and sold new and used scopes from Bushnells to S&Bs.
They retain most of their value provided you don't overpay when you buy.
Watch the classifieds here and check out samplelist.com, let someone else take the "hit" from buying new and selling used.
They also have the potential to grow into another rifle... you need to be ever vigilant if you don't want more rifles. Ask me how I know :)

Last night I looked at EuroOptic.com and they had some great deals on demos. I fought off the urge to buy one of the Steiners for $1300 to $1400... very tempting.
Used and Discounted Items - EuroOptic.com

Also check out Cameralandny.com (another Hide vendor) and their demos/samples, some hot deals there.

Right here, Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP in mil or MOA for $800 shipped.

Thanx Alot Joe... $800 for that scope shipped and all is a no brainer. I just bought it and when I apply my points, it comes out to almost 30k points less this way. I cannot thank you enough for doing the legwork on this for me, now I just hope its legit.. "Fingers Crossed"!!!

Oh, it's legit.
CameralandNY is awesome.
I've bought several scopes from them, 2 of them demos, both look like they've never been out of the box.

Still, you should get a premium scope, so when you do get the opportunity, you'll have the capability. 338s are expensive to shot due to ammo costs and 200 yards is nothing if the rifle is a "shooter". You'll probably get bored very quickly at that maximum range!!!

Agreed... I reload tho so its only $0.99 per round for me. But yes, 200yds is lame! Either way, its always fun to shoot regardless the weapon.

Subscribed to this thread. Please let us know if they honor that price as it was posted way back on August 8th, and they don't even list Vortex on the sample/demo list at all.

If they do honor it and you get your I am buying one also, at that great price. : )

My credit card got billed $799.99 so until It arruves I dunno but I was billed already.. Ill let you know tho.
