its got a 20 MOA base on it now... whats the advantage to the unimount setup or the once peice base and rings???

should i get get a pair of rings and say forget it??
do i go to the unimount??
or do i take the base off and go to the one peice base and rings?

Since you already have the base just get a pair of quality rings and start shooting.

I have a Nightforce 20 MOA base and rings on one rifle and a Nightforce direct mount (the one that combines the 20 MOA base and rings into one piece) on another. Both work, do the same thing and both are almost transparent to me now. I guess the direct mount has fewer parts to work loose, but if you install a base and rings correctly you shouldn't have a problem anyway. The base/ring combo gives a little more flexibility when mounting different scopes. Never tried the unimount.

get some good rings and start shooting. I have a friend with a nightforce scope and a unimount system on it, its nice. However, when I took his rifle into the gunsmith to have a new bottom metal put on I have to take the scope out of the unimount to remove the scope for getting the work done. Which means it's a pain to mount again. but if you had a rings and base you can just loose the rings from the base and simple to put it back on and you dont have to try and level you scope again.... So get the rings and be happy :)
