I have a Savage Model 93 in .22 mag. Right now my scope is sitting in a set of Weaver rings. The problem is with this rifle sitting in my truck and getting bounced around does not do good things...

Is there a better set of rings out there that will stay put in the dovetail? Or will I be better off getting it drilled and tapped for a permanent set of rings or a base?

Thats what I was afraid of, but figured id ask anyway

drilled and tapped.

the only rings that have ever stayed put for me with dovetails are millet windage adjustable rings. they dig in pretty good, almost too good. i think you can actually ruin the dovetail if overtorqued, but at least they don't slip.

i just tried these out, they seem GTG for attaching and detaching optics without a loss of zero from a weaver or pic. style base. may help removing and securing the scope from that "bouncing around"

UTG Max Strength Quick Detachable rings 4 rimfire

they have something for dovetail too http://leapers.com/listproduct.php?mitem...amp;mtrack=12m4, but i have no experience with the QD dovetail rings.

but if you have the scratch for drilling and tapping, it's the way to go

Not sure the exact model. Its stainless, composite stock...

But, it is not drilled and tapped.
