I see where Premier Reticles now offers their 3-15x50 and their 5-25x56 with the Horus reticle at a modest increase in price of around $1K on SWFA . I, frankly, was amazed that the Horus reticle commanded such a premium. Does anyone plan on purchasing one of the $3800.00 PR scopes? I can’t throw stones, else it would break my glass house; I purchased a Hensoldt several months ago, so I have no room to question another’s purchase. In fact, what others purchase is none of my business regardless of what I have or haven’t purchased. Unfortunately, I’m nosy, and I was stunned at the price of the now-upper-end PRs because it was not what I expected. So, naturally, I wanted to see what the Sniper’s Hide community felt about the Horus reticle in general and what the community felt about the amount charged to have Horus reticle placed in your PR scope.

Re: Scope price INCREASE

Some will always buy premium just to feel special. To me having seen several scopes all i can say my 200$ Hawke is doing it's job (target shooting). If i ever go out on the market again (have 2 IORs to sell which i got in compensation deal) i've decided i'm going with new IOR or used S&B, Hensoldt as they can be had for around 1800$ here in Europe. I would seriously consider Vortex PST line if they prove their worth after they come out in June.

Is that $1800 USD? Where are they going for that price?

www.egun.de

There were several Schmids sold recently also few Hensoldts (6-24x72 went for ~2000€ if i remember correctly). A lot depends also on postage fees and eur/usd ratio which atm is favorable for you guys.

Re: Scope price INCREASE

I had one of the PH/Horus ret on order before I knew the price assuming it would be $400 more like what USO charges.

When I found out they wanted $800 more I got pissed off and canceled the order.

Supposedly Nightforce is coming out with Horus reticles in their new scopes in the not to distant future.Hopefully they will be priced reasonably.

Re: Scope price INCREASE

The price of Horus reticles is established by Dennis Sammut, who owns HorusVision and owns the patents associated with it.

It may be useful to know that Dennis Sammut is independently wealthy, and his income is not a function of the market value of Horus reticles.

In short, he doesn't give a shit how many Horus reticles he sells, nor does he have any motivation to maximize the income from the sale of those reticles by keeping the price relatively low.

Re: Scope price INCREASE

When/if Horus supplies USO with a reticle that meets USO's quality standard for my scope, it will be my last.

If Horus would allow licensed manufacturing of there reticles by
the scope builders I might reconsider.

Re: Scope price INCREASE

I have a a Horus Hawk and a USO SN3 with the H-25 reticle. I love them both. I will agree though if the cost of licensing an H-37 reticle into a PR will add a 1000, NEXT. I would love to get a USO with another H-25 but in case that won't happen....then I will do fine with a Vortex Razor HD with the EBR 2 in it.

Re: Scope price INCREASE

i think the Gen 2 xl reticle is perfect for me. if you get the horris reticle you then have to buy their PDA software. it works but i dont care for it the Premier XR reticle is fine for a backup when ranging if my range finder shits itself or i dont have it and then i can wind knobs that is why they have great tracking. i do understand why horris is a good idea with cheeper scopes as they dont have to wind the scope turrets after it is zero'd but they are to busy for my liking and i can aim off with the premier i have no way is it worth the extra grand US.

Horus vision is a company that makes a reticle and software system.

They also dabble in the scope buisness.
