Hunting & Fishing Scope question-hunting related

Anyone here hunt(deer/coyote) with a SS 5-20x50 or the G2DMR 3.5-21x50? I'm curious if the SS beginning magnification of x5 was difficult on shots less than 100yrds, I'm thinking somewhere around 50yrds? I think the Bushnell has a way better magnification range, but for whatever reason I like the SS better. Maybe, because it has an illuminated reticle. If I could only incorporate the G2 reticle and magnification range from the Bushnell into the SS illuminated reticle and tube. Face it, the HDMR just looks funny. Thanks for any input.

I'll be putting a SS 5-20 on my 7WSM & hunting blackies with it in a couple weeks- I'll let ya know how it hunts.

I have the 5-20x SS on my deer rifle and, in my opinion, 5x is plenty low enough.

I have used a fixed 6x for alot of hunting and did not have any problems from 30 yards and out. you should be fine but if you are curious google 6x fixed hunting scope forums.

you should be fine with 5x, I very rarely turn mine down below 8x & I've shot deer at 25 yd.
