Well, I just sold some stuff I don't need and got about $600 so I figure it's time to replace the Barska POS I have right now. I am new to this so I have no idea where to start looking so a few scope suggestion would be nice. I would like the scope to have these features:
-clear glass for shooting to 800yds.
-fixed 10x power
-mil dot reticle
-side focus and target turrets.

Re: Scope suggestion.

First suggestion would be that fit your criteria:

Super Sniper 10x42M $299 has the side focus
Super Sniper 10x42HD $799 has better glass but has rear focus.

I'd suggest the HD if going out to 800. Looking at it myself once I have the money. You could also look at the bushnell 3200 10x but it doesn't have any parallax focus, not sure if it makes a huge difference but its only give or take $220, or the wotac 10x40 for $280. Best all around are the super snipers.

Re: Scope suggestion.

I have a bushnell 10x mill reticle/moa adjustments. It doesn't have a parallax adjustment. I shot out to 1k today and the glass and level of magnification was sufficient. The one thing that would make the best difference is having a matching reticle and turrets. It's a little annoying when you see you need .5 mill and have to multiply that by 3.6 to convert mills to moa. So basically something with a matching reticle and turrets would help.

Re: Scope suggestion.

What rifle is this going on and what are you shooting at out to 800 yards? If it is a bolt rifle shooting at paper I would suggest the Super Sniper 10X with side focus, it runs a little more than mentioned above. http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-10x42-Tactical-Riflescope-P500.aspx
If you are banging steel or shooting IPSC type targets do your self a favor and look at the Super Sniper 3-9. It has FFP, mil/mil and is a lot of scope for the money. I use it on steel out to 800 yards with no problems. In this application or for hunting I don't want a parallax adjustment. It slows you down and is not needed. I set my rifles up so that I have a good repeatable cheek weld and don't worry about parallax. Plus their is a 10% discount code for Hide members. I've got two of them.

A bone stock, no frills, no options ST10 straight from USO is $985. www.usoptics.com

Re: Scope suggestion.

Not bad and there is no charge to switch the mil dot for a moa reticle so it and the knobs talk the same language or vise versa. By the way, how does the HD SS glass compare to the likes of USO? Just below it or alot?

Re: Scope suggestion.

I'll be honest. IMO, the best USOs are the ERGO models. I probably won't ever own another TPAL because the ERGO models seem so much clearer. If/when I get another, it will be an ERGO again.

That being said, I think the HD is on par with the TPAL at 10x or a NF at 10x. Its way beyond the Leupolds. But probably couldn't compete with an ERGO at 10x.

But the ERGO, at least the one I had, was MUCH clearer than any other TPAL (of four that I've owned).

Re: Scope suggestion.

No experience with the SS HD, but had a ERGO 3.2-17x58 and the glass was superb. The field of view left a little to be desired, but the image was crisp and on par with my Kahles and IORs.
