Rifle Scopes Scope suggestions for my rem. 700 5r mil-spec .308

I had a cabelas alaskan guide 4x16 on it and it went bad. so now im looking for a new scope. i like shooting long ranges . only out to about 600 so far. I would also like to use the gun for hunting. I was looking at the leupold mark AR 6x18, but was really liking the vortex pst 6-24 in the FFP.
I was wondering what your opinions were and if there's something else i should like at. budget is max 1g

The vortex pst ffp 6-24x50 is very nice.

Vortex PST or shoot for the Bushnell HDMR. I would go an extra 200$ or so for an HDMR. If you look around they can be had for around 1100$

I would rather buy a SFP instead of FFP for a hunting scope.

I carry a range finder with me when hunting so I don't need to use a reticle to range and I also like to see my reticle clearly when shots are close.
That's why I would go with a SFP for hunting but it's all preference .
All scopes mentioned by the posters are pretty good scopes .

Bushnell, Vortex and Sightron all make very good 6-24 ffp scopes in the same price bracket.

Sightron also makes a very nice 2.5-17.5 SFP illuminated scope

Everybody in their right mind uses a rangefinder.. The advantage of an Ffp in a hunting situation is that your reticle hold overs are the same no matter what magnification the scope is on !
