Random question i have the ability to pickup a new seekins ph2 barrel in 300win. I already have a ph2 chambered in 300prc. They share the same bolt face and action length. I'd have to look at feeding from the 300prc mag. What adjustments would have to be made after swapping barrels. I'm just trying to see if it would be a worthwhile pickup without too much fuss. Thank for the reply's.

i was only asking because i had a 300win that i sold. I still have ammo and all of my reloading components for it. If i could swap barrels and be fuctional if i want to, is why i was considering it
I can't see one good reason to take off the prc barrel and put on the win. components or not (I own both but the prc outperforms in every way without any negatives)

It's a step down in performance for no gain. stick with 300 prc
Not really. Sans belt, they're about the same unless you absolutely have a hard-on for factory ammo and don't want to reload (which isn't the case for the OP). I'm getting ~2900fps with 215s out of my 300WM with H1000, which is about what 300PRC shows clocking in with the same bullet and N570.

I wouldn't go out of the way to swap a 300PRC barrel for a 300WM barrel, but I'd have no problem picking up a 300WM barrel to eventually replace a shot-out 300PRC barrel.

Do you have the barrel, can you use the barrel, and do you want the barrel?

While modern cartridges may optimize a little here and there, there aren't a whole lot of things in a hunting rifle that a PRC will do that a WM won't. Handloading will narrow the gap a bit, factory ammo will widen it. I can't think of a North American big game animal that will be able to tell the difference from a well-placed shot at 500 and in.

Besides the retarded belt, the issues with the WM are that factory chambers are not cut to optimize high bc bullets. That may, or may not be an issue.
The advantage of the WM is quality brass availability. Hell you can pick up good, once fired range brass.

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it. The only reason I was looking at this is because the barrel was brand new and presented to me cheaply. At some point it would just allow me to use up to all of the 300 Wind mag components I have laying around collecting dust. I actually sold my 300 win mag and bought the 300 PRC for all of the benefits of the PRC. I may just buy the barrel anyways and keep it for when I want to do something different
